Same reasons that the Anaconda is better than the T9, is why I like the Clipper over the T7. The T9 worked, but Anaconda is better in everyway. Anyone who says different can't give you viable reasons other than 'but I'm better than NPC's the only ships I enjoyed trading in were Clipper, Python, and Anaconda. So yes, Clipper is a vast improvement over the Vulture. Has more firepower than the Vulture, is faster, can mass lock ships, and can turn very well. It can also be fitted with several shield banks to make up for the weaker shields. Those are the only advantages.Ĭlippers can do a million more things than the vulture can. Vultures are more mobile, and have better shields. That's like saying I can take out a Python with a Courier easy, therefore the Courier is better. You can help Elite: Dangerous Wiki by expanding it. Ship Equipment Ship Specifications Purchase Locations This article is a stub. Comparing NPC clippers (or anything) with that of a player is stupid. 1 Summary 2 Ship Equipment 3 Ship Specifications 4 Purchase Locations Summary The Imperial Clipper is a fast and heavily armed multirole ship suited for nearly any task. Since the Vulture is quite slow compared to the Imperial Clipper, you can easily outrun the Vulture if you do decide to buy the Imperial Clipper. It's high speed makes it easier for the Imperial Clipper to escape intensive fights around extraction sites. The Imperial Clipper is a heavy multipurpose ship, mostly used for trading because of it's large cargo capacity and defensive capabilities if it does get under attack. I have the Vulture and I can out-maneuver the Imperial Clipper without effort! These ships never land a single attack on my Vulture o: using prospectors, you can target and know exactly which asteroid to head to next, so no wasted movement time.Originally posted by Therapeutic Black Beans:Would you say the clipper is better than a vulture? Python > Clipper for cargo capacity, not by a ton, but decent bit more.ģ - Full speed vs full speed comparison is immaterial because while mining both ships will be moving with cargo scoop down, so while clipper is still faster, it's not 100 m/s fasterĤ - the move speed between asteroids is the least time intensive portion of mining - any small speed advantage the clipper has is just that - small. Also tried 192 ton cargo spec but with only 4 collectors - which worked fine but preferred faster pickup of 6.Ģ - Python has more cargo capacity than a clipper.

I'm sorry.what? If you're talking about my mining python, how do you know how I spec'd it? So lets take any python which ppl can configure how they like - and I'll use mine as example.ġ - not sure where you get idea python can operate "only 3 collectors at a time" - I was running spec with 160 tons cargo, (6) collector drones all fetching same time, (1) prospector drone, 9 bin refinery, plus the usual (2) med mining lasers. Not a big deal though if you source large tech worlds nearby so just a slight down side, nothing more The only issue I would say is slight down side is you have to pick your mining locations more carefully with the clipper because of the lack of docking at outposts to pickup and turn in mining missions and sell some of the metals and minerals. **the clipper is pretty good, and I wouldn't buy a new ship to try mining, just respec as it costs nothing to switch back. But if you can't plunk down the cash on a 'perfect' mining ship like the python, then just read the thread above and pick any ship that hold the minimum suggested goodies. Obviously, if you can afford more than a cobra, then get a bigger ship like Asp. But you can mine pretty well even using a smaller ship like a cobra - because the amount of time we spend mining is lot more than the time spent running back and forth to unload. There is to be sure a minimum size you want so you can fit in the good refinery, have decent cargo to hold limpets, etc. Mining unlike trading has very little scaling with bigger ships as yet. This thread is mandatory reading for anyone wanting to try mining - (mine for dummies megathread - read the OP if nothing else but it's not that super long and I'd read the whole tread)Ģ. But it's tough to tell people to go get a Python due to cost in many cases.ġ. Before had to sell for next upgrade, had mining Python and agree it is fantastic mining ship (plus other multiple roles).
